Schools Partner With Sharefest

During the Million Meals for Haiti project, the Rockford Public School’s Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council launched a district wide program called Take It Half Way. They challenged and led high school students to pack 500,000 of the Million Meals for Haiti. Students, elementary, junior high and high school, from school district #205 raised funds to pack meals. Visit rps205.com to find out more about what happened – or – you can ask any Rockford Public High School student. They will tell you what it feels like to make a difference in our world.

The RPS 205 involvement inspired other schools to get involved, and many of the area districts were involved in raising funds, packing meals or both. These included the Belvidere schools; Byron schools; elementary and junior high schools from Loves Park, Roscoe & Rockton; and Rockford Christian School. Likewise, 54 different groups from the region funded and packed meals. These groups represented businesses, civic organizations, neighborhoods, churches and local government organizations.

To see more of what happened, watch the wrap-up video and celebrate all the community has done to meet this dire need for the people in Haiti. Thanks – a million thanks! Together, we made a difference in our world.
